precious

We are enjoying Meadow so much. Peanut and Finley can't keep their lips and hands off of her. I hope the love lasts.

I was a little nervous about her sleeping patterns. The first night home she did great, she slept all day and slept 6 hours before getting up the eat in the night. The next night wasn't so good, she was up from 10 pm to 5 am-ugh it was AWFUL. I was wondering what I signed up for. The third night was the same, I was driving around the neighborhood at 2am (It is kinda interesting to see who is awake at that time) and that still didn't put her to sleep. Since then it has been a lot better, she has returned to her 6-7 hour stints of sleep-eating-and then going back to sleep for another 3-4 hours. I can handle that. I couldn't handle the up all night.

She had her two week appointment today her weight is up to 8 lbs. 13 oz and she is grown 1 1/2 inches (21 1/2 in) I am so HAPPY she is healthy and growing.

Rain, Rain, come and stay.

We have had a TON of rain lately. I personally LOVE it, I don't want it to stop. I love the cool weather, I love the smell of wet cement, I love the thunder and lightning. Peanut and Finley are enjoying it too, or at least they are enjoying the puddles.

She's here.

Our sweet little one arrived Tuesday June 2 at 9:49 pm. Weighing in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. I am so glad she is here, I honestly didn't think I could go one more day. I was carrying her all out front which caused a lot of pain and discomfort.

The story: We were called into the hospital at 11:00 am and were quickly taken into a L&D room where the Doctor was practically waiting for us, he quickly broke my water before the nurses even got me hooked up to the monitors and IV. We thought "great things are going to go fast, we might have a baby by late afternoon". Contractions seemed to be coming pretty regularly and fairly strong, so I decided to get the epidural. Epidurals always freak me out, I get really anxious as I am crunched over waiting for the needle. The Anesthesiologist came in and got started, unfortunately he couldn't get in between my vertebrae with the first poke, so he had to poke me again-ahhhh. It is not a good feeling to have a needle in your spine fishing around looking for the perfect placement, eww the grinding of needle on bone threw me over the edge. The second poke went better and the doctor found the proper placement. After that comfort came and it was good because I could still feel my legs which was nice, because with Finley and Peanut all was numb. Contractions still were coming pretty regularly and I seemed to be progressing somewhat fast, at least faster than my first two deliveries. Great, again we thought she could be here soon. We were fooled, I should just know and believe that I don't have quick deliveries. By about 8:00 pm the nurses said that I could start pushing. I tried a couple of times and the nurse thought she would get the DR. to come in. As he arrived everything was set up to have a baby. He asked me to push and he decided I was pushing way to hard and the contractions weren't doing their part to help out. So he upped the pitocin from 22 to 30 (whatever that means) and we waited an hour to let my contractions get stronger. He inserted a internal monitor to determing how strong my contractions were. During this time I was constantly pushing the epidural button for extra pain meds to enter my body, but it seemed like it wasn't helping because I was starting to feel the tops of my legs and the very bottom of my belly, hmm strange. An hour later Dr. came and said "let's have this baby, even though your contractions don't seem to be any stronger" so basically I was going to have to do all the work. The doctor did decide to help a little with a vacuum. So after about eight minutes of extreme pain and extreme pushing "Meadow" (her new blog name) was born and only had a small cone head from the vacuum. I am glad the Dr. decided to use the vacuum, even though he hates them, I think he would have hated helping me push for 2 hours like I did with my other two kids. My dang weak uterus. We are so happy baby meadow is here, she is so mellow and sweet, I think we will keep her.
