Funny Story

We have a story that Cache and I like to giggle about. We told it to the kids a few weeks ago for FHE. It's a story about me being cranky (no surprise). It goes like this................

3 or 4 years ago, in October, our doorbell rang at about 9:00 PM. I went to the door irritated that the doorbell might wake-up our 4 year old and infant. When I opened the door, no one was there. I grew more frustrated and knew it must have been one of Cache's 11 year old scouts out playing a fun game of "doorbell ditch". A minute or two later it happened again, now I was getting really angry. Again, the doorbell rang for the third time, I ran to the door and indeed found one of the scouts stooping by our front door. The cranky mom surfaced in myself and I began to lash out at the scout. "Jacob!! Why are you doorbell ditching us?? You are going to be in soo much trouble if you wake up my kids!! What are you doing out this late on a school night?? I am going to call your mom!!" Jacob, at that point, had this look of fear in his eyes and quickly glanced down at our door step. My eyes followed his, and on the doorstep was a bucket full of Halloween treats and goodies for our family. I instantly began apologizing and Jacob quickly ran down the drive-way just in time to be picked up by his mom driving down the street. Poor Jacob!! I was so embarrassed, I had just yelled at one of the sweetest boys in the neighborhood and all he was doing was trying to do something nice.

After the story, we told the kids they each needed to pick someone who they wanted to "ding dong ditch". I found these cute printables and we made up these boxes and we were on our way. They had a lot of fun and luckily they didn't run into any cranky moms.

**If we do this again I think I will wrap the boxes in brown paper, ding dong boxes are so UGLY!**

wednesdays!

Okay, it has taken me ALL day to get the guts to do this. I thought of it yesterday, and I keep arguing back and forth if I want to do it. Hopefully knowing that I am putting my successes and failures on the web will give me enough motivation to stick to my goal.

Here is the plan. Every Wednesday I am going to post my weight loss (or gain). Just so you know I want to loose 25 lbs. (that is a lot, I blame it on my first baby). I am not putting my starting or ending weight (I am not that brave) just -1 or +1 that type of thing. This isn't too bad there isn't that many people that read my blog right?? Okay so here I go....................Be sure to check back in next Wednesday, maybe even let me know you are there so I know that I am accountable to someone.

Muffin meal

A big "thank you" goes out to which ever blog I was on when I saw this Idea. I am sorry I can't give the proper credit to whose idea this is, but it is great. I saw Muffin meals a long time ago while blog surfing and stored it in my brain file and finally tried it last night. Basically it is just serving whatever you would normally serve for lunch, but separating it into the muffin tins. Todays muffin meal consisted of string cheese (cut up), sliced strawberries, grapes, cut up lunch meat, graham cracker, marshmallows and choc. chips. They loved it and ate every last bite. Today we had friends over and our friends loved it too. Hopefully muffin meals will pep up your lunch (or dinner) times too.

Makin' crayons.

Summer is coming which means more and more time to do nothing. Yeah, that is pretty much what happens at our house-absolutely nothing. I have found a lot of blogs to change that tough, there are tons of tutorials out there in the blogosphere and I plan to take advantage of them this summer. Our first project.....Crayon Making...... we used this tutorial and it was so much fun. The kids loved being destructive and peeling off wrappers and braking the crayons in half.

Have you ever........

tried Geocaching? It is so fun! If you have a hand held GPS device, you can do it. If you don't have one, you can come with us. Here is how it works; There are little treasure boxes hidden all over the world that contain little gizmos that you can trade. You would be surprised that you have probablly been walking past one of these on your daily jogs through the park. First, you have to log into the Geocaching website then enter your address or zipcode and select how many miles you are willing to travel. Second, find a "cache" that you are interested in and enter the coordinates into your GPS. Third, go find it by following the directions on your device. Don't forget to take little treasures to leave in the container and don't forget to sign the log inside too. Usually the treasures aren't that neat, but the kids like to choose something to keep. sometimes there is money, sometimes there are toys, pins, jewelry. It is a good way to get out and explore the valley. We have found a few parks and hiking trails that we wouldn't have found if we weren't looking for treasure. For the intense "geocacher" there are travelling "bugs" (that's what they call them, but they aren't real bugs) that you can find sometimes in the container, If you find it.....sign it out and put it into another "cache" and log it on the website. These bugs travel all over the world. Anyway warm weather is almost here, so I thought I would share one of our hobbies so you can can enjoy it too.

Spring Break

Spring Break begins today and we have nothing planned. We wanted to go to Disneyland, but decided we better save the money for some big purchases that need to be made in the next few months. My kids are vegging out in front of the boob tube right as I type and I am thinking "it is bad to let them stay in their jammies and continue their TV marathon throughout the entire day?". YES! I am trying to promote good habits in my children and becoming a couch potato who is unable to use their imaginations is not one of those habits (I have to keep telling myself this). What is everyone else doing for their kids during spring break? PLEASE share! I found a fun blog yesterday while feeding my obsessions of blog stalking, she had some good ideas for entertainment during the break Tip Junkie. I love finding new blogs to frequent, my google reader list is getting very long.

I do have to say though, I don't sit at the computer all day everyday. Yesterday I took a break and we went to the zoo. It was a perfect day, the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect, even the animals were lively. The baby orangutan (It took me forever to figure out the spelling of that word) was so cute as she was trying to get her mom to wake up and play with her, we could have watched her forever. It reminded me a little of my children trying to get me to play with them. Even the camels, you know the camels that often get forgotten because all they do is stand there and do nothing except chew on their cud, were running around and fighting with each other, it was very exciting to watch the camels bite each other (we are easily entertained). A post would not be a post without any pictures so here they are:
That's all folks!
